Truly I know it is so, but how can man be just with God?

If they sin against You (for there is no man who does not sin), and if You are angry with them, and have delivered them up before the enemy, and they have been led away captive to the land of the enemy, far or near,

O Jehovah, the God of Israel, You are righteous. For we are left a remnant that has escaped, as today. Behold, we are before You in our sins, for we cannot stand before You because of this.

How then can man be justified with God? Or how can one who is born of a woman be clean?

Look even to the moon, and it shines not; yea, the stars are not pure in His sight;

And burned the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram. His wrath burned against Job, because he had justified himself rather than God.

You said, I am pure, without transgression; I am innocent, and no iniquity is in me;

For Job has said, I am righteous; and God has taken away my right;

Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?

And Job answered and said,

If You will keep in mind iniquities, O Jehovah, who shall stand, O Lord?

And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is just.

because by the works of the Law none of all flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law is the knowledge of sin.
