If you have done foolishly in lifting yourself up, or if you have thought evil, lay your hand on your mouth.

The rulers held back from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

I was dumb, I did not open my mouth; because You have done it.

I would declare to Him the number of my steps; like a prince I would go near Him.

Oh that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleads for his neighbor!

But You are just in all that is brought upon us, for You have done right, but we have done wickedly.

O Jehovah, the God of Israel, You are righteous. For we are left a remnant that has escaped, as today. Behold, we are before You in our sins, for we cannot stand before You because of this.

And he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he begged for his life, that he might die. And he said, It is enough. O Jehovah, take away my life. For I am no better than my fathers.

And David's heart struck him after he had numbered the people. And David said to Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in what I have done. And now, I beseech You, O Jehovah, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.

And Job answered Jehovah and said,

He puts his mouth in the dust, if perhaps there may be hope.

And if a leprosy breaks out greatly on the skin, and the leprosy covers all the skin of the one who has the plague from his head even to his foot, to all that appears to the eyes of the priest,

Teach us what we shall say to Him; for because of darkness we cannot arrange our case.

so that you may remember and be ashamed; and it will not be possible to open your mouth any more because of your shame; in that I am propitiated for all that you have done, says the Lord Jehovah.
