And he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he begged for his life, that he might die. And he said, It is enough. O Jehovah, take away my life. For I am no better than my fathers.

But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall have no escape, and their hope shall be like the giving up of the spirit.

They are rejoicing to exultation. They are glad when they can find the grave.

Oh that I might have my desire, and that God would grant the thing that I long for!

Even that it would please God to destroy me; that He would loose His hand and cut me off!

so that my soul chooses strangling, death rather than my life.

if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures,

And I commended the dead who already have died, more than the living who are living now.

And if You are going to part this way with me, I beg You to kill me at once, if I have found favor in Your sight, and let me not see my misery.

And in those days men will seek death and will not find it. And they will long to die, and death will flee from them.
