Even a fool, when he is silent, is counted wise, and he who shuts his lips is counted as a man of understanding.

Be quiet. Let me alone so that I may speak, and let come on me what may.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

For a dream comes through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice by the multitude of words.

So the understanding ones shall keep silent in that time; for it is an evil time.

Should your lies make men silent? And will you mock and no one make you ashamed?

Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips.

Turn to me and be amazed, and lay your hand on your mouth.

Shall I wait because you do not speak, because they stand still, answering no more?
