And now please let your servant remain instead of the boy as a slave to my lord. And let the boy go up with his brothers.
And he said, Now also let it be according to your word. He with whom it is found shall be my servant, and you shall be blameless.
For your servant became surety for the boy to my father, saying, If I do not bring him to you, then I shall bear the blame to my father forever.
For how shall I go up to my father, and the boy is not with me lest perhaps I see the evil that will find my father?
And David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? I pray You, let Your hand be against me and against my father's house.
And now will You forgive their sin! And if not, I pray You, blot me out of Your book which You have written.
For I myself was wishing to be accursed from Christ for my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh,
by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better covenant.
By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
