And Jacob said, Swear to me this day. And he swore to him, and he sold his birthright to Jacob.

(lest there be any fornicator, or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

For men truly swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
