And God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

Praise Him, heavens of heavens, and waters that are above the heavens.

But the men marveled, saying, What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear; and it was so.

He binds up the waters in His thick clouds; and the cloud is not torn under them.

And let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth. And it was so.

He sends the springs into the valleys; they flow between the hills.

And God called the expanse, Heavens. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse proclaims His handiwork.

Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

To Him who by wisdom made the heavens; for His mercy endures forever.
