You shall not pervert the rightful judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge.

For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

They drive away the ass of the fatherless; they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

One sacrificing to a god, except it is to Jehovah only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

You shall not follow a multitude to do evil. Neither shall you speak in a cause in order to follow many in order to wrest judgment.

You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his cause.

Also you shall not oppress a stranger. For you know the heart of a stranger, since you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

If you see the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, do not marvel at the matter. For He who is higher than the highest watches; and there are some higher than they.

your rulers are rebellious, and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards; they do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them.

What do you mean? You crush My people and grind the faces of the poor? says the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands free from holding bribes, who stops his ear from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;

So says Jehovah, Do judgment and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the oppressors's hand. And do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

They have become fat, they shine. Yes, they go past the deeds of the wicked; they do not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may get rich; and they do not judge the right of the needy.

The people of the land have used oppression and practiced robbery, and they have troubled the poor and needy. Yea, they have oppressed the stranger without right.

In you they have despised father and mother. In your midst they have dealt with the stranger by oppression. In you they oppressed the orphan and the widow.

And if a stranger lives with you in your land, you shall not oppress him.

Both hands are on evil, to do it well. The ruler asks for a bribe, and the judge also; and the great man speaks the evil desire of his soul. So they weave it together.

And do not crush the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother.

And I will come near you to judgment. And I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those who extort from the hired laborer's wages, and turning away the widow, and the orphan, the alien, and not fearing Me, says Jehovah of Hosts.

And the soldiers also asked of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do not forcibly extort anyone, nor accuse any falsely. And be content with your wages.

You shall not respect persons in judgment. You shall hear the small as well as the great. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God's. And the cause that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.

You shall not pervert judgment; you shall not respect persons, nor take a gift. For a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

You shall certainly give back to him the pledge at sundown, that he may sleep in his own clothing, and bless you. And it shall be righteousness to you before Jehovah your God.

But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and Jehovah your God redeemed you from there. Therefore I command you to do this thing.

No man shall take the lower or the upper millstone to pledge, for he takes a man's life to pledge.

Cursed is he who perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

But you dishonored the poor one. Do not rich men oppress you and draw you before the judgment seats?
