You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, of your brothers, or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates.

He who presses the poor curses his Maker, but he who honors Him has mercy upon the poor.

He who crushes the poor to multiply for himself, and he who gives to the rich, only to come to poverty.

In you they have despised father and mother. In your midst they have dealt with the stranger by oppression. In you they oppressed the orphan and the widow.

You shall not defraud your neighbor nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not stay with you until the morning.

And remain in the same house, eating and drinking the things shared by them; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Do not move from house to house.

If there is among you a poor man of one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother.

For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox treading out grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his reward."
