Behold, a third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not burden you, for I do not seek your things, but you. For the children ought not to lay up treasure for the parents, but the parents for the children.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he who takes souls is wise.

A good man leaves an inheritance to his sons' sons, and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Houses and riches are the inheritance of fathers, and a prudent wife is from Jehovah.

What then is my reward? That when I preach the gospel I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.

For though I am free from all, yet I have made myself servant to all, so that I might gain the more.

And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, so that you might have a second benefit,

And being present with you, and in need, I was not a burden to anyone. For the brothers from Macedonia made up completely my need. And in every way I have kept myself from being burdensome to you, and I will keep myself.

For what is it in which you were inferior to the rest of the churches, except that I myself did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong.

My children, for whom I again travail until Christ should be formed in you,

Therefore, my brothers, ones loved and longed for, my joy and crown, stand fast in this way in the Lord, beloved ones.

I do not say this because I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

even as you know how we exhorted and comforted and testified to each one of you, as a father to his children,

So affectionately longing for you, we were willing to have imparted to you, not only the gospel of God, but also our own souls, because you have become beloved to us.
