But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, so that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

All the fat ones on the earth shall eat and worship; all those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him; and none can keep alive his own soul.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness, but the righteous has hope in his death.

I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave; I have numbered the rest of my years.

As it is written, "For Your sake we are killed all the day long. We are counted as sheep of slaughter."

For, brothers, we would not have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength; so much so that we despaired even of life.

who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver; in whom we trust that He will yet deliver us,
