Then how is it, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be for building up.

But I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that oftentimes I purposed to come to you, and was kept back until the present; that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other nations.

or ministry, in the ministry; or he who teaches, in the teaching;

So then let us pursue the things of peace, and the things for building up one another.

Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good, to building up.

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the mind; I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the mind.

For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. For no one hears, but in spirit he speaks mysteries.

If one speaks in a language, let it be by two, or at the most three, and in succession. And let one interpret.

Let all things be done decently and in order.

Again, do you think we are defending ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ, but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your building up.

Therefore I write these things while absent, lest being present I may not deal sharply with you according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for pulling down.

for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

from whom the whole body, fitted together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of each part, producing the growth of the body to the edifying of itself in love.

Let not any filthy word go out of your mouth, but if any is good to building up in respect of need, that it may give grace to the ones hearing.

speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Therefore comfort one another, and edify one another, even as you also do.
