And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I pray You, turn the advice of Ahithophel to foolishness.

And the advice of Ahithophel, which he advised in those days, was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel, both with David and with Absalom.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For Jehovah had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Jehovah might bring evil on Absalom.

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, even he saddled the ass and arose, and went home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order. And he hanged himself and died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.

He leads wise men away stripped, and makes the judges fools.

He removes the speech of the men of trust, and takes away the understanding of the aged.

He takes away the heart of the chief of the people of the land, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no path.

Your heart shall dwell on terror. Where is the scribe? Where is the one weighing? Where is the one counting the towers?

who brings to nothing the signs of the liars, and makes diviners mad; who turns the wise backward, and makes their knowledge foolish;

Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of Jehovah revealed?

Who would not fear You, O King of nations? For fear belongs to You, because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You.

And that sown into the thorns is this: he who hears the Word; and the anxiety of this world, and the deceit of riches, choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Now is the judgment of this world. Now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

And certain philosophers from the Epicureans and from the Stoics met him. And some said, What will this babbler say? And others said, He seems to be an announcer of foreign demons (because he preached Jesus and the resurrection to them).

For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse.

Professing to be wise, they became fools

For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the perceiving ones."

For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise men according to the flesh are called, not many mighty, not many noble.

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

and God has chosen the base things of the world, and things which are despised, and things which are not, in order to bring to nothing things that are;

But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

But, we speak wisdom among those who are perfect; yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, that come to nothing.

which none of the rulers of this world knew (for if they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory).

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool so that he may be wise.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it is written, "He takes the wise in their own craftiness."

Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever desires to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
