And after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. And the general of the king's army was Joab.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites. And David's sons were priests.

And he talked with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest. And they helped Adonijah, following him.

And David said, Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first and was chief.

And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army. And Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.

The third commander of the army for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest. And in his division were twenty-four thousand.
