Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Execute true justice, show mercy and compassion, every man to his brother.

“A despairing man should be shown kindness from his friend, or he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

O house of David; thus says the Lord: Execute justice each morning, and deliver him who has been robbed from the hand of the oppressor, lest My fury go out like fire and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your deeds.

Thus says the Lord: Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. And do no wrong or violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

But this thing I commanded them, saying, “Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.”

For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your deeds, if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor,

if he has not lent at interest, nor has taken any increase, but has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man;

Thus says the Lord God: Let it suffice you officials of Israel. Remove violence and destruction, and execute justice and righteousness. Take away your exactions from My people, says the Lord God.

A merchant, in whose hands are deceitful balances, he loves to oppress.

You shall do no unrighteousness in a court. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person who is great, but in righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.

But let justice roll down like water, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

He has told you, O man, what is good— and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Were these not the very words that the former prophets proclaimed when Jerusalem dwelt with ease along with her surrounding cities, and when the Negev and the Lowland were inhabited?

And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying:

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You tithe mint and dill and cumin, but have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done without leaving the others undone.

“Woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb and pass over justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.

Do not judge according to appearance, but practice righteous judgment.”

“Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”

You must not see your brother’s ox or his sheep go astray and hide yourself from them. You must certainly bring them back to your brother.
