Zechariah 11:6

Modern English Version

For I will no longer have pity on those who dwell in the land, says the Lord. But I will cause each of them to fall into the hands of his neighbor, even into the hands of his king. They will crush the land, and I will not deliver any from their hands.

“Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver:

When its boughs are withered, they are broken off; the women come and make a fire with them, for they are not a people of understanding; therefore, their maker will not have mercy on them, and their Creator will show them no grace.

The people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor; the youth shall behave himself proudly against the elder, and the inferior against the honorable.

I will dash them against one another, even the fathers and the sons together, says the Lord. I will not show pity or spare or have mercy, but will destroy them.

The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets; my virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword; You have killed them in the day of Your anger, You have slaughtered and not pitied.

Then Gomer conceived again, and bore a daughter. And the Lord said to Hosea: “Call her name Lo-Ruhamah, for I will no longer have mercy upon the house of Israel but will utterly sweep them away.

Therefore I will uncover her shame in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her from My hand.

The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which when it passes through, tramples and mauls, without rescuer.

You will eat, but not be satisfied, with hunger within you. You will set aside, but not retain; and what you retain I will give over to the sword.

I will overthrow the throne of the kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots and their riders. The horses and their riders will come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

Then I cut up the second staff, Union, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

The ones who buy them then slaughter them and have no guilt, and those who sell them say, “Blessed is the Lord because I am rich.” Their own shepherds do not take pity on them.

Then I said, “I will not shepherd you. What is to die, let it die. What is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed. Let those who are left devour each other’s flesh.”

Then on that day a great tumult from the Lord will come on them as each person will seize the hand of his neighbor, and the hand of one will be raised against the hand of another.

For before those days there were no wages for a man, nor any hire for an animal; and there was no peace from an enemy for him who went out or came in, for I set every man against his neighbor.

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

“The brother will deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child. And the children will rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.

When the king heard about it, he was angry. He sent in his army and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.

Then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another.

But they shouted, “Away with Him! Away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved. In this way they are always piling up their sins, but wrath has come upon them to the extreme.

how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

For he who has shown no mercy will have judgment without mercy, for mercy triumphs over judgment.
