On that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great Euphrates River —

This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you; every male among you shall be circumcised.

And I will make My covenant between you and Me and will exceedingly multiply you.”

I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

Then the man said, “Your name will no more be called Jacob, but Israel. For you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

so that the priests could not continue to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.

He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel.

So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary, beholding Your power and Your glory.

Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.

and delivered His strength to captivity and His glory to the enemy’s hand.

You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant:

I will not break My covenant, nor alter the word that has gone out from My lips.

Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children.

When you enter the land which the Lord will give you, according as He has promised, that you shall observe this service.

Then the Lord said to Moses: Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.

You shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord: Israel is My son, even My firstborn.

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham, My friend.

Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who are borne by Me from birth and are carried from the womb:

And He fenced it, and removed its stones, and planted it with the choicest vine. And He built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress in it; and He expected it to bring forth good grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes.

The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord shall be an everlasting light to you and your God for your glory.

Is Ephraim My dear son? Is he a pleasant child? For since I spoke against him, I still remember him; therefore My heart longs for him. I will surely have mercy on him, says the Lord.

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law within them and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

They will come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble. For I am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn.

As the appearance of the rainbow that is in the cloud on a day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice of one speaking.

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.

And then Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, and he heard the voice of One speaking to him from the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, and He spoke to him.

“Listen to another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and built a wall around it. He dug a winepress in it and built a tower. Then he rented it to vinedressers and went into a distant country.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said concerning him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Much in every way! First of all, the oracles of God were entrusted to them.

For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”

It is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel,

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.

Now the promises were made to Abraham and his Seed. He does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your Seed,” meaning one, who is Christ.

were at that time apart from Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world.

You are the sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb.

It is not with you alone that I am making this covenant and this oath,

The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise up and begin to prostitute themselves after the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they are going to be among them, and will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.

He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even the Ten Commandments, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

For you are a holy people to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be His special people, treasured above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Then indeed, the first covenant had ordinances for divine services and an earthly sanctuary.

since they are concerned only with foods and drinks, ceremonial cleansings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.

Behind the second veil was the second inner part of the tabernacle called the Most Holy Place,

Above the ark were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Concerning these things we cannot now speak in detail.

Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests would regularly go into the first part, conducting the services of God.
