He named his son Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.”

So God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh is come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Behold, You have made my days as a few handbreadths, and my age is as nothing before You. Surely every man at his best is as a mere breath.”    Selah

“Vanity of vanities,” says Qoheleth, “vanity of vanities! All is vanity.”

They have made it desolate, and being desolate, it mourns to Me. The whole land has been made desolate, because no man lays it to heart.

How long shall the land mourn and the herbs of every field wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, the beasts and the birds have been snatched away, because they said, “He will not see our latter end.”

Therefore the land dries up, and everyone who lives in it withers with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky; even the fish of the sea disappear.

How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are confused, because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep suffer.

We know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.

For we are saved through hope, but hope that is seen is not hope, for why does a man still hope for what he sees?
