I know and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

When they saw some of His disciples eat bread with defiled, that is, ritually unwashed hands, they found fault.

He said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jew to visit or approach a foreigner. But God has shown me not to call any man common or unclean.

For one has faith to eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.

Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but it is evil for the man who causes someone to fall by what he eats.

But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because it is not from faith, for whatever is not from faith is sin.

Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no question for the sake of conscience,

For if anyone sees you, who have knowledge, eating in the idol’s temple, shall the conscience of him who is weak not be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols,

However, not everyone has this knowledge. Some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat the food as a thing offered to an idol. So their weak conscience is defiled.

For everything created by God is good, and not to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving,

To the pure, all things are pure. But to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Even their minds and consciences are defiled.
