They changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, birds, four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

Thus they exchanged their glory for the image of an ox that eats grass.

To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him?

Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one of them is missing.

The carpenter stretches out his measuring line; he marks it out with a line; he fits it with planes, and he marks it out with the compass, and makes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house.

Has a nation changed their gods, though they are not gods? But My people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.

So I went in and saw every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall all around.

In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth and wild beasts and reptiles and birds of the air.

“Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that the Deity is like gold or silver or stone or an engraved work of art or an image of the reflection of man.

They turned the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to mute idols, however you were led.

You shall not make yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth ;

For in earlier times of our lives it may have sufficed us to do what the Gentiles like to do, when we walked in immorality: lusts, drunkenness, carousing, debauchery, and abominable idolatries.

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not cease to worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which cannot see nor hear nor walk.
