O Lord, why do You cast my soul away? Why do You hide Your face from me?
Why do You hide Your face and regard me as Your enemy?
How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
For You are the God of my refuge; why have You cast me off? Why do I walk about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
Why do You hide Your face? Why do you forget our affliction and our oppression?
But You have rejected us and put us to shame, and you do not go out with our armies.
For You are not a God who has pleasure in wickedness, nor will evil dwell with You.
Hide not Your face from Your servant, for I am in trouble; answer me quickly.
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
