I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush: “This one was born there.”

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and wept when we remembered Zion.

The daughter of Tyre will be there with a gift; the richest of the people will seek your favor.

Envoys will come from Egypt; Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

You crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.

Surely the princes of Zoan are fools; the counsel of the wise counselors of Pharaoh has become stupid. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings?”

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord. Awake as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Was it not You who cut Rahab to pieces and wounded the dragon?

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the Lord, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations; I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God: Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods in the midst of the seas,” yet you are a man, and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God.

The king spoke, saying, “Is this not Babylon the Great that I myself have built as a royal residence by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?”

So he rose up and went. And there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in command of her entire treasury. He had come to Jerusalem to worship.

On her forehead a name was written: mystery, babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth.

He cried out mightily with a loud voice, saying: “ ‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, and a haunt for every unclean and hateful bird.

He stood and called out to the ranks of Israel, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am not I the Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose for yourselves a man and let him come down to me.
