The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night.
Then the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them, and the pillar of the cloud moved before them and stood behind them.
Whether it was two days, or one month, or a long time that the cloud dwelt over the tabernacle, the Israelites dwelt in their tents and did not journey. But when it was lifted up they journeyed.
