Let them be confounded and consumed who are adversaries of my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt.

But the Lord is with me as a dread mighty One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail. They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper. Their everlasting shame will never be forgotten.

Let those who rejoice at my calamity be ashamed and brought to confusion; let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who exalt themselves against me.

The Jews had assembled in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus in order to forcibly assault those seeking their injury. No man could stand before them because the dread of them had fallen on all people.

Let them be turned back because of their shame, who say, “Aha, aha!”
