Come, behold the works of the Lord, who brings desolations on the earth.

Blessed is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

My God in His lovingkindness will go before me; God will cause me to look in triumph on my enemies.

Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.

Then Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, so that they may serve the Lord their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?”

Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians, and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not someone dead.

Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants abroad.

They shall build the old ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Take counsel together, but it shall come to nothing; speak the word, but it shall not stand for God is with us.

Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land because they are bread for us. Their defense is gone from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, nor is there any divination against Israel. For this time it will be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’

When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, and a people that outnumber you, do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

because the Lord hardened their hearts to engage Israel in battle. They destroyed them without mercy, to put them to death, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
