Set a guard, O  Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.

I said, “I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue; I will keep a muzzle on my mouth while the wicked are before me.”

Destruction is in its midst; oppression and deceit do not depart from its marketplace.

Truthful lips will endure forever, but a lying tongue will endure for a moment.

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are His delight.

The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand.

He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips will come to ruin.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will perish.

He who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from trouble.

For He said, “Surely they are My people, sons who will not lie.” So He became their Savior.

Seek good and not evil, so that you may live; then the Lord, the God of Hosts, will truly be with you, as you claim.

Do not lie one to another, since you have put off the old nature with its deeds,

Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,

If anyone among you seems to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

We all stumble in many ways. But if any man does not stumble in what he says, he is a complete man and able also to control the whole body.

Therefore put away all wickedness, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking.

“He committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth.”
