Psalm 127:1

Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

The Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as He promised, and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon as they made a treaty together.

See now that the Lord chose you to build the house for His sanctuary. Be strong and do it.”

Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and take action. Do not be afraid nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work of the service of the house of the Lord.

Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, to do all these things and to build the palace for which I have made preparation.”

In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and He heard me.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills; from whence comes my help?

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

Unto You do I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens.

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side— let Israel now say—

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion, we were like those who dream.

Give the king Your justice, O God, and Your righteousness to the king’s son!

He built His sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth that He has established forever.

The heart of man devises his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Again I observed under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to the skillful; but time and chance happen to them all.

The watchmen found me while they roamed the city. “Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”

The watchmen found me as they went about the city; They struck me, they wounded me. They took my shawl away from me, those guardsmen of the walls.

I, the Lord, am its keeper; I water it every moment; lest anyone damage it, I protect it night and day.

His watchmen are blind; they all are ignorant; they all are dumb dogs, unable to bark; sleepers lying down, who love to slumber.

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day or night. You who remind the Lord, do not keep silent;

Set up the standard against the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes. For the Lord has both devised and done that which He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.

One courier will run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city has been captured from end to end,

If Christ has not risen, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain.

So then neither is he who plants nor he who waters anything, but God who gives the increase.

I am afraid for you, lest I have worked for you in vain.

But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is today.

The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of Israel came here tonight to spy out the land.”
