And Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years. My days of the years of my life have been few and evil, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the lives of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”

For we are strangers and sojourners before You, just as all our fathers were. Our days on earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

because God has deprived her of wisdom, nor has He imparted understanding to her.

With my whole heart have I sought You; let me not wander from Your commandments.

Hear my prayer, O  Lord, and give ear to my cry; do not be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with You, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

Turn Your gaze away from me, that I may become cheerful again, before I go away and am no more.

O  Lord, why have You made us to err from Your ways and hardened our heart from fearing You? Return for Your servants’ sake, the tribes of Your inheritance.

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

But they did not understand this statement, and it was hidden from them, so that they did not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord.

Dearly beloved, I implore you as aliens and refugees, abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul.
