Draw me after you, and we will run away. The king has brought me into his chamber. Let us shout with joy and rejoice in you; let us remember that your love is better than wine. Truly do the young women love you.
I have surely heard Ephraim pleading: “You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as an untrained calf; turn me back and I will be turned, for you are the Lord my God.
My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have caused them to go astray; they have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill and have forgotten their resting place.
I will seek that which was lost and bring back that which was driven away and bind up that which was broken and will strengthen that which was sick. But I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them with judgment.
My sheep wandered through all the mountains and upon every high hill. Indeed, My flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and no one searched or sought after them.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from being My priest. And because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.
But now, after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how do you turn again to the weak and worthless elemental forces to which you desire again to be in bondage?
