Yet in this thing you did not believe the Lord your God,

on that day that I lifted up My hand to them to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had selected for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands,

But your children, whom you said would be a prey, I will bring them in and they will know the land, which you rejected.

Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and they to whom it was first preached did not enter due to unbelief,

Now I want to remind you, though you already know, that the Lord saved the people out of the land of Egypt and afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

lest there be any sexually immoral or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

For the gospel was preached to us as well as to them. But the word preached did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith in those who heard it.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew. Then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Since then we have a great High Priest who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to our confession.

They gave the Israelites a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.

All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and against Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “O that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or that we had died in this wilderness!

Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land because they are bread for us. Their defense is gone from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”

Yet you were not willing to go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God.
