He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den; he lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor, drawing them into his net.

For He stands at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those who condemn his soul.

“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy sigh, now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he yearns.”

The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bows, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay those who walk uprightly.

For behold, they lie in wait for my life; the mighty gather against me, not for my transgression nor for my sin, O  Lord.

He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but he who honors Him is kind to the poor.

He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth, and he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.

Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

What do you mean that you beat My people to pieces and grind the faces of the poor? says the Lord God of Hosts.

The instruments also of the rogue are evil; he devises wicked schemes to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.

For among My people are found wicked men. They lie in wait, as he who sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

He is to me a bear lying in wait, a lion in hiding.

The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery and have vexed the poor and needy and have oppressed the sojourner wrongfully.

Does a lion roar in the forest, if it has no prey? Does a young lion cry out from its den, if it has not caught something?

The godly has perished from the earth, and no one is upright among men. All of them lie in wait for bloodshed; each hunts his brother with a net.

They bring all of them up with a hook, they catch them in their net; they gather them in their dragnet. Therefore they rejoice and are glad.

You pierced with his own arrows the leaders of his villages. They came like a whirlwind to scatter me; their rejoicing was like devouring the poor in secret.

There is the sound of wailing shepherds, because their glory is ruined. There is the sound of roaring lions, because the pride of Jordan is ruined.

But he who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and runs away. So the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.

Do not trust them. More than forty men, who have bound themselves with an oath to neither eat nor drink until they have killed him, are waiting for him. And now they are ready, waiting for your promise.”
