Surely, in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird;

for the price of a prostitute leaves a man with a loaf of bread, and an adulteress preys upon his precious life.

But he who commits adultery lacks understanding; he who does it destroys his own soul.

Immediately he followed her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,

But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

And I find more bitter than death a woman whose heart is like snares and nets, whose hands are like prison cells. He who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is captured by her.

For no one knows his appointed time. Like fish caught in a cruel net, like birds caught in a snare, so people are ensnared in an evil time, when it suddenly falls on them.
