for whom the Lord loves He corrects, as a father the son in whom he delights.

As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him.

Blessed is the man whom You discipline, O Lord, and teach from Your law,

He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.

Correct your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your soul.

You must also consider in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
