Speak not in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.

“Do not give what is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn around and attack you.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Many of them said, “He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”

But they held their peace, and answered him not a word, for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.”

When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed. But others said, “We will hear you again concerning this matter.”

Then some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What will this babbler say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection to them.

Then the Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham and the prophets died, and You say, ‘If a man keeps My word, he shall never taste death.’

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things and derided Him.

Some Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we also blind?”

Leave the presence of a foolish man, when you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.
