You have sent widows away empty, and the strength of the fatherless was crushed.

They snatch the fatherless from the breast and take a pledge from the poor.

Yes, you cast lots for the fatherless, and you bargain over your friend.

They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.

You shall not afflict any widow or orphan.

The Lord will destroy the house of the proud, but He will maintain the boundary of the widow.

Remove not the ancient landmark that your fathers have set.

Thus says the Lord: Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. And do no wrong or violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your deeds, if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor,

if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your harm,

Do not oppress the widow, orphan, sojourner, or poor. And let none of you contemplate evil deeds in your hearts against his brother.

Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against the perjurers, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who turn aside the stranger, and do not fear Me, says the Lord of Hosts.

You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which they of old time have set in your inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.

“Cursed is he who removes his neighbor’s landmark.” And all the people shall say, “Amen.”

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
