When the wicked comes, then comes contempt, and with dishonor comes disgrace.

Hear, O our God, that we are despised. Turn their reproach back upon their own head, and give them as spoil in a land of captivity:

Reproach has broken my heart, and I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.

for zeal for Your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen upon me.

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

A righteous man hates lying, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.

A fool takes no delight in understanding, but only in airing his opinions.

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters, the wellspring of wisdom is a flowing stream.

Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; indeed, strife and shame will cease.

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases, but the righteous will see their downfall.

If you are reproached because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

They are surprised that you do not join them in the same excess of wild living, and so they speak evil of you.

Then Saul was angry with Jonathan and he said to him, “You son of a perverse rebellious woman, do I not know that you are choosing the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness?
