Behold, they bellow with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, “Who hears us?”

When words are many, sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool displays his folly.

The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright, but the mouth of fools pours out folly.

The heart of the wise guides his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.

A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man restrains it.

Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Do not be quick to speak with your mouth, or be hasty to utter a word before God with your heart. For God is in heaven, and you are on the earth; therefore may your words be few.

Do not let your mouth cause you to sin, and do not say to the priestly messenger that it is an inadvertent sin. Why should God be angry with your words and destroy the work of your hands?

O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to every man who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, with gentleness and fear.

For when they speak arrogant words of vanity, they entice by the lusts of the flesh and by depravity those who barely escaped from those who live in error.
