The Lord will not let the soul of the righteous go hungry, but He rejects the craving of the wicked.

He wanders about for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

The increase of his house will depart, and his goods will flow away in the day of His wrath.

In famine He will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword.

You have seen it, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it with Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the orphan.

The wicked will see it and be angry; he will gnash his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked will perish.

They shall not be ashamed in evil times, and in the days of famine they shall have abundance.

I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.

The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the stomach of the wicked will suffer want.

The wicked is banished in his wickedness, but the righteous has a refuge in his death.

He who is greedy stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will prosper.

He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

He shall dwell on high; his place of defense shall be the impregnable rock; his bread shall be given him, his waters shall be sure.

Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord’s wrath. But the whole earth will be consumed by the fire of His jealousy, for He will make a sudden end of all those who dwell on the earth.

But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be given to you.
