Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful envoy to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters.
Like he who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on a wound, so is he who sings songs to a heavy heart.
He who sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off his feet and drinks violence.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways and be wise,
who say, “Stand by yourself; do not come near to me, for I am holier than you!” These are smoke in My nose, a fire that burns all day.
“His master answered, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not winnowed.
do not be lazy in diligence, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord,
so that you may not be lazy, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
