I will open my mouth in a parable; I will speak mysteries of old,

He said to them, “To you is given the secret of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, everything is said in parables,

But solid food belongs to those who are mature, for those who through practice have powers of discernment that are trained to distinguish good from evil.

I will incline my ear to a parable; I will reveal my riddle with the music of the harp.

Without a parable He did not speak to them. But when they were alone, He expounded on all things to His disciples.

The words of the wise are like iron-tipped goads, and like well-driven nails are the collected sayings that are given by one shepherd.

Face to face I speak with him clearly, and not in riddles, and the likeness of the Lord will he behold. Then why were you not afraid to speak against My servant, against Moses?”

As in all his letters, he writes about these things, in which some things are hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable distort, as they also do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

These also are sayings of the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgment.

“In the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, a king will arise, having a fierce countenance, skilled in intrigue.
