What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers;

Understand, you brutish among the people! Fools, when will you be wise?

Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep My commandments and My instructions?

She cries out at the entrance of the noisiest street, at the entrance of the city gates she speaks her words:

because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord.

For the turning away of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion,

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

A scoffer seeks wisdom, and does not find it, but knowledge comes easily to him who is discerning.

A scoffer does not love one who reproves him, nor will he go to the wise.

Penalties are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

When a mocker is punished, the simple becomes wise; when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

A proud and haughty man—“Scoffer” is his name, who acts with insolent pride.

A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.

Surely He scorns the scornful, but He gives grace to the humble.

and you say, “How I hated instruction and my heart despised reproof!

How long will you sleep, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?

and I saw among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man lacking understanding,

O you simple ones, understand prudence; and you fools, be of an understanding heart.

I have seen your adulteries and your lustful neighings, the lewdness of your harlotry, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will you remain unclean?

O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?

How long will this evil assembly be murmuring against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the Israelites which they murmur against Me.

Then Jesus answered, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you, how often I would have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not!

But go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

saying, “If you, even you, had known even today what things would bring you peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

Know this first, that there shall come scoffers in the last days who walk after their own lusts,

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let him who hears say, “Come.” Let him who is thirsty come. Let him who desires take the water of life freely.
