The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the Lord and a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying: “Rise up! Let us rise up against it for battle!”):

So Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me some of that red stew, for I am famished.” Therefore his name was called Edom.

So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir. Esau is Edom.

These are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.

Remember, O  Lord, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, who said, “Raze it, raze it, to its foundation!”

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

Egypt will become a desolation, and Edom a desolate wasteland, because of the violence done to the people of Judah— they shed innocent blood in their land.

He who breaks through has gone up before them; they will break through and pass the gate and go out by it. Then their king will pass on before them, the Lord at their head.

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. For all these things must happen, but the end is not yet.

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled. For such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
