When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set out, after that, the sons of Kohath will come to carry it. But they will not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting.

And Abiathar came up, and behold, Zadok also came, and all of the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God until all of the people had finished passing out of the city.

When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, David would sacrifice an ox and a fattened steer.

All the elders of Israel came, and the priests carried the ark.

The sons of the Levites lifted up the ark of God just as Moses commanded, with the poles on their shoulders, according to the word of the Lord.

Then David said, “No one may carry the ark of God except the Levites since the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister before Him always.”

And so the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its implements for its service.”

You shall set boundaries for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves so that you not go up onto the mountain or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain will surely be put to death.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, lest they force their way to the Lord to look, and many of them perish.

The poles shall be put into the rings, so that the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar when carrying it.

And he shall put the incense on the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is over the testimony, so that he does not die.

but you will appoint the Levites over the tent of the testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all things that belong to it. They will carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels, and they will minister to it, and will camp around the tabernacle.

When the tabernacle sets out, the Levites will take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites will set it up, and the foreigner that approaches will be put to death.

The Kohathites set out, carrying the sanctuary, and they set up the tabernacle before they came.

They will perform duties for you and for the whole tent, but they will not come near the vessels of the sanctuary or the altar, so that neither they nor you die.

But those who were to camp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tent of meeting on the east side, were Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the guard of the sanctuary for the guard of the Israelites, and the foreigner who approached was to be put to death.

They shall put on it all the instruments with which they minister there, the censers, the flesh hooks, the shovels, the basins, all the utensils of the altar. And they will spread on it a covering of porpoise skins and insert its poles.

But do this to them, that they may live and not die, when they approach the most holy things. Aaron and his sons will go in, and appoint each one to his service and to his burden.

But they will not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

But to the sons of Kohath he gave none because the service of the sanctuary belonging to them was that they should carry on their shoulders.

Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.

The priests who were carrying the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was completed that the Lord had commanded Joshua to say to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people quickly crossed over.

Then He struck the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord. He struck fifty thousand and seventy men. And the people lamented, because the Lord had struck the people with a great slaughter.
