If he strikes him with a stone in hand, by which he could die, and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.
But for your own lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning; from every animal will I require it; of man, too, will I require a reckoning for human life, of every man for that of his fellow man.
If men fight and one strikes the other with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die, but must remain in bed,
I will judge you as women who commit adultery or shed blood are judged. And I will bring on you the blood of fury and jealousy.
Or if he strikes him with a weapon of wood in hand, by which he could die, and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.
And you will not take a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he will surely be put to death.
