The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Therefore you will not have anyone to apportion the land by lot in the assembly of the Lord.
The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance on this side of the Jordan near Jericho to the east, toward the sunrise.
These are the names of the men who will divide the land for you: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun.
These are the territories that the Israelites inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the family leaders of the Israelite tribes assigned to them.
Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord. There Joshua apportioned the land for the Israelites according to their divisions.
