Therefore He raised His hand against them to overthrow them in the wilderness,

Therefore I swore in My wrath, “They shall not enter My rest.”

The Lord heard the sound of your words, and was angry, and vowed, saying,

“Not one of these men of this evil generation will see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers.

Now the length of time it took for us to come to Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from among the army, just as the Lord swore to them.

For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among their midst, until they were gone.

For I lift up My hand to heaven, and say: As I live forever,

And with whom was He grieved for forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
