When they heard the Law, they separated from Israel all the racially mixed.

but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tested God in the desert.

A mixed multitude also went up with them along with flocks and herds, a large amount of livestock.

“I have heard the murmurings of the Israelites. Speak to them, saying, ‘In the evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”

Now the Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, for you have brought us forth into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

saying, ‘No, but we will go into the land of Egypt where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger for bread, and there we will dwell,’

“And say to the people: Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, ‘Who will give us meat to eat? For it was better for us in Egypt.’ Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat.

And the whole assembly lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night.

Because all those men seeing My glory and My signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted Me now these ten times, and have not listened to My voice,

Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land that flows with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness because you make yourself a prince over us?

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.

Now these things were our examples to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

Also at Taberah and at Massah and at Kibroth Hattaavah you provoked the Lord to wrath.
