When all our enemies heard it and all the surrounding nations saw it, they were tremendously humbled. They perceived that, because of our God, this work had been accomplished.

When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite subordinate heard this, it deeply grieved them that there was a man coming to seek the welfare of the Israelites.

When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly irritated, and he mocked the Jews.

When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard how the restoration of Jerusalem’s walls was progressing and how the breaches had begun to be sealed, it made them extremely furious.

Also in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came to them,

that they may know that this is Your hand, that You, O  Lord, have done it.

Then was our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing; then said they among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”

Let all those who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward.

The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

He removed their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty, and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.”

It will be to Me a name of joy, praise, and honor before all the nations of the earth which shall hear of all the good that I do to them; and they will fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure for it.

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, nor is there any divination against Israel. For this time it will be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’

Now I tell you, keep away from these men and leave them alone, because if this intention or this activity is of men, it will come to nothing.

Our hearts melted when we heard these things, and no man had any breath in him because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.

She said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, for dread from you has fallen upon us, and all the inhabitants of the land melt in terror before you.

When all the kings of the Amorites west of the Jordan and of the Canaanites by the sea to the east heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites while they crossed over, their hearts melted, and there was no longer any breath in them because of the Israelites.
