David said to the Gibeonites, “What must I do for you, and with what may I appease you that you may bless the inheritance of the Lord?”

What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits to me?

All the prosperous ones of the earth will eat and worship; all who go down to the dust will bow before Him, even he who cannot preserve his own life.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms!

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats.

To what purpose does incense from Sheba come to Me, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor are your sacrifices sweet to Me.

But when the people of the land shall come before the Lord in the solemn feasts, he who enters by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by way of the south gate. And he who enters by the way of the south gate shall go out by way of the north gate. He shall not return by way of the gate by which he entered, but shall go out the opposite gate.

He was given grass to eat like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomever He wills.

With their flocks and their herds they will go to seek the Lord, but they will not find Him. He has withdrawn from them.

Though you offer Me burnt offerings or your grain offerings, I will not accept them, nor will I regard the offerings of your fattened animals.

To love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

and cried out with a loud voice, “What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure You by God, do not torment me.”

And behold, a lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly I say to you, you seek Me not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

She followed Paul and us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.”

He then led them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

When they heard this, they were stung in the heart and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

But every priest stands daily ministering and repetitively offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.

Samuel said, “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, a listening ear than the fat of rams.
