We do not see our signs; there is no longer any prophet, nor is there any among us who knows how long.

Nations will see and be ashamed, despite all their might; they will put their hand on their mouth, and their ears will be deaf.

On that day each prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a robe of coarse hair in order to deceive.

Saul asked of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will You deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But He did not answer him that day.

Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you roused me to bring me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed, for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me any longer by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have called you that you might make known to me what I should do.”

Saul inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams, or by lots, or by prophets.

(Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he said, “Come, and let us go to the seer.” For he that is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer.)
